Nation's Leading Provider of Power Wheelchairs and Scooters Offers Canyon Lake Man Holiday Gift of Mobility

New Braunfels, TX (PRWeb) December 27, 2006 -- As part of its Gift of Mobility program, The SCOOTER Store today presented a Pride Jazzy Select power wheelchair to Ronald Cone, of Canyon Lake, who is suffering from a mobility-related disability. The SCOOTER Store worked with the National Chronic Pain Society to provide mobility assistance to Mr. Cone.

"We are pleased that The SCOOTER Store has stepped forward to help out this family in need during the holiday season," said Helen Dearman, president of the National Chronic Pain Society. "There are many people living with disabilities who fall through the cracks and do not receive power wheelchairs or scooters through their private insurance or Medicare and Medicaid. The SCOOTER Store frequently steps up and provides mobility assistance for people like Mr. Cone, and vastly improves their quality of life."

The SCOOTER Store, the nation's leading provider of power wheelchairs and scooters, created its Gift of Mobility program in December, 2002. Since its inception, the international outreach program has donated more than $200,000 per year in power wheelchairs and scooters, and manual wheelchairs to community service organizations enabling them to provide freedom, independence and personal integrity to those with limited mobility.

Working with the National Chronic Pain Society, The SCOOTER Store presented a power wheelchair to Mr. Cone on Thursday.

Doug Harrison, CEO and Founder of The SCOOTER Store, said the Gift of Mobility program is designed to help people like Mr. Cone.

"We are pleased that Mr. Cone's quality of life will be improved by our contribution of this power wheelchair," said Mr. Harrison, who started the company with his wife, Susanna, in 1991. "We strive to be good corporate citizens. We created the Gift of Mobility program to give back to those who need help the most. The SCOOTER Store family hopes that this power wheelchair helps Mr. Cone and his loved ones enjoy a happier holiday season."

Other charitable groups have participated in the Gift of Mobility program including the American Red Cross, Hospice, Volunteers of America and Dream Foundation, as well as a host of churches, museums and foundations.

"We believe that increased mobility can dramatically increase the quality of life for people who are mobility impaired," Mr. Harrison said. "We look forward to working with the National Chronic Pain Society, and other organizations, to provide a special gift of mobility to those who need it most."
